External appearance
Wrapper leaf colour: maduro. Wrapper leaf texture: rough, wrinkly, shiny, oily, slender. Roll: optimal for its density, of satisfactory quality but with some cavities.
Aroma and taste in unlit state
Aroma: of average intensity, pleasant with leitmotifs of spice and mustard. Tangs: animal, woody, with the smell of damp paper and snuff. Taste: strong, sweetish and pungent. Tangs: spices, mustard, dry fruit, dry aromatic herbs, dry earth.
Aroma and taste of the lit cigar
Aroma: strong. Tangs: spicy, burnt, woody, flowery. Taste: strong, hot, a little bitter with a slight sweetness. Tangs: earthy, woody, nutty, minty. Aftertaste: average length with burnt and spicy flavours.
Burning
Shape of burning section: an irregular cone which flattens during the second third. Draw: optimum. Ash colour: light grey. Ash structure: crumbly.
Progression
First third: A pleasant, balanced taste that is not too sharp or harsh, and a fairly simple aroma with a predominance of burnt and woody tangs. Second third: A spicy tone is paramount in the aroma and a slight flowery note makes its appearance. There is insignificant progression in the taste, but by the end of the second third it takes on a more tangible form. Final third: Smoking becomes milder due to the appearance of a minty flavour in the taste accompanied by a slight tang of mustard, which does not, however, become, unpleasant.
Recommendations
Accompanying drink: a light or dark rum, a cognac that is not too old, sherry, light beer, coffee. Smoking time: the low strength and relative simplicity of the aroma make smoking possible while continuing with some other task of greater importance. A good idea would be to start after lunch and continue while reading papers or over talks.
General impressions
Technically, the cigar is produced to a good standard. But at the same time, with a format of this kind one would expect a more interesting progression.
