Aroma and taste in unlit state
Aroma: strong, with spicy and flowery leitmotifs. Tangs: mint, dry flowers, dry earth, burnt sugar (caramel).
Taste: strong, fairly pungent, bitter-sour-sweet. Tangs: medicinal herbs, dry flowers, red pepper, fusty hay, over-dried hazelnuts.
Aroma and taste of the lit cigar
Aroma: strong. Tangs: spicy, fruity, herbal, animal, nutty.
Taste: strong, pungent with a slight taste of mustard. Tangs: earthy, woody, spicy, fruity.
Aftertaste: fairly prolonged with spicy and woody flavours.
Burning
Shape of burning section: conical.
Draw: slightly laboured, but basically close to optimum.
Ash colour: light-grey.
Ash structure: crumbly.
Progression
First third:The first draws reveal the cigar’s aroma – a fairly complex bouquet, but straightforward enough being chiefly spicy and earthy. The taste is very mild, almost gentle, full-bodied and completely balanced.
Second third: The smoke becomes sharper and dryer, but it retains its smoothness and freshness. The aroma and the taste get more complex with burnt tones becoming more prominent in the aroma and minty tones in the taste.
Final third: Both the taste and the aroma, which with the appearance of fruity and animal tangs become even more complex, show the clear predominance of mild spices.
Recommendations
Accompanying drink: rum, blended whisky, XO category cognac, port.
Smoking time: The cigar does not become wearisome, despite its large form. This makes it possible to smoke it throughout the day, even at work.
General impressions
The cigar is well balanced. It will be popular with new smokers who are transferring to the larger formats. It should be smoked slowly with even draws, otherwise an unpleasant bitterness may be distinctly felt in the taste.
