Progression
First third: The smoke is pleasant from the first few draws, which reveal the cigar’s highly complex aroma with the predominance of spicy, fruity (wild strawberry jam), woodland and earthy tones. Spicy, woody and minty flavours and the tang of dry earth are apparent in the taste. Second third: Smoking appears to become more moist and milder, but the former heaviness remains. Spicy and woody tones, made more prominent by animal and fruity notes, dominate the aroma. The taste is richer and full-bodied. Final third: The aroma changes imperceptibly. A lack of balance remains in the taste with the burnt and metallic tones strengthening and the bitterness being more clearly apparent.
Recommendations
Accompanying drink: rum, a blended whisky that is not too old, port. Smoking time: The cigar does not become wearisome, despite its large form. This makes it possible to smoke it after meals throughout the day.
General impressions
The cigar is well rolled and burns evenly. Its aroma is moderately complex. But the taste, by comparison, is rather plain.
